A pool of clear bubbling water that sparkles like silver on sunny days provides the basis for the name of Silver Springs State Fish and Wildlife Area. Majestic oaks and prairie grasslands provide a panorama of natural beauty to park visitors. The Fox River runs through this picturesque area, which is also home to several small manmade lakes. A natural prairie restoration project gives visitors a feeling of the original landscape with native wildflowers, songbirds, waterfowl and upland game. Picnicking, fishing and hiking are popular pastimes in summer, with ice fishing, sledding, ice skating and cross-country ski trails available for the winter sports lover.
This is another Fox River hike with a 2.6-mile length. We are hitting up the Fox River options. Chain O’Lakes Playlist is here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list…
Most of our videos are filmed in a full 360° arc, this means you should be able to use your device to move the video around and up and down. If you are having issues or if you are watching with VR goggles, click over and watch our Hike360vr playlist directly on YouTube.
We are hiking along the Fox River for a while. Meanwhile, we are getting bitten by mosquitoes and I make faces at the camera.
We discuss the condition of the hike and how ‘woodsy’ this trail is compared to other hikes. Neil again is wearing someone else’s shirt. As we tease Neil and talk about getting social media likes, Neil takes it to another place and earns a new trail name: “10 Likes”
We’ll be hiking about 3 miles and a bit over an hour. There are several different ecosystems to explore.
