Lake Gogebic, MI

Lake Gogebic State Park covers 360 acres and nearly a mile of lake frontage on the west shore of Lake Gogebic, the largest inland lake in the Upper Peninsula. About a quarter of the 127 campsites are located directly on the lakefront and the rest are nestled among the trees, not more than 100 yards from the lake. There are 2 toilet/shower buildings. There are also 3 pull-through sites. A gift shop, ice, wood, and public phone are available at the campground office. The day-use area has a boat launch, picnic shelter, bathrooms, a metal detecting area, playground equipment, a swimming beach. The park is centrally located to many local attractions and only 30 minutes from the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park. Located on M- 64 between US-2 and M-28.

Lake Gogebic is a great first night when traveling to the Porcupine Mountains. Easy access, good facilities, cell coverage (Internet), and a lake. After a 7 hr. drive from the Chicago area, it was nice to begin our trip with something easy. Campsites 18 and 20 were both along the lake. Very nice locations and we put our tents up near the lakeshore to drown out any neighbor noises.

Sunrise from the tent. You can hear the birds and nothing else, what a great way to wake up.

Osprey Offer

We stayed at Lake Gogebic on our way to the Porcupine Mountains. Campsites 18 and 20 are the sites we stayed, these are along the lake and allowed for great sunrises. The ducks were pretty friendly too.
