Hike 360 VR

Hiking around in the round

Lake Geneva WI

Lake Geneva, WI

We visited beautiful Lake Geneva Wisconsin for a hike along the North shore, from the city of Lake Geneva to the city of Fontana. There is a deeded path along the lake front all the way around the lake. The entire circumference hike is about 23 miles. The North shore to Fontana is 12 miles. A shorter hike to Williams Bay, about 9 miles, is the most frequented hike.

The path from Lake Geneva to Williams Bay is in excellent shape. We went just before the 4th of July holiday, so all the homes were decorated and the gardens were in full bloom. The path from Williams Bay around and for most of the South shore is a bit more rugged.

We ended our hike with a guided boat ride. Lake Geneva Tours only picks up hikers during weekdays, with pre-arranged reservations and during summer months. I highly recommend the tour with refreshments after a long hike. If the tour is not available or undesired, bring 2 cars and park one at the end or call a taxi. The taxi fare should be a little cheaper than the boat tickets.

This was my favorite hike of the summer. Its a sensory exciting and a great use for 360 video. Its a lake with the natural views, smells and sounds of a healthy, spring fed body of water. Then add in the boats, the flowers and the architecture. There is so much to see in every video, make sure and take advantage of the 360 and VR features.

Lake Geneva to Fontana, WI. Approx. 10 miles. We took the tour boat back which requires reservations and they pick up hikers only on Mon-Thur. If you hike on the weekend, a taxi will be faster and less expensive but you’ll miss the tour of the south shore.

Most of our videos are filmed in a full 360 arc, this means you should be able to use your device to move the video around and up and down. If you are having issues or if you are watching with VR goggles, click over and watch our Hike360vr playlist directly on YouTube.

Downtown Lake Geneva, WI. The Northshore hike begins at the North end of Riviera Beach near the public restrooms. Make sure to use the distant all-day, free parking lot as Lake Geneva likes to ticket and the only parking that allows more than 4 hrs of parking is the free lot on the south east side of town.
The Lake Geneva Northshore hike is visually exciting with the lake, the gardens and the homes. Never a dull moment and pretty good exercise.
You never know what you’re going to find. We found a large turtle sunbathing on a boat ramp.
The Edgewood Estate was built for the Swift Family and features a Jens Jensen Garden.
Built for A.C. Bartlett by the same contractor as the Edgewood Estate. Supposedly, P.T. Barnum lent a circus tent to the construction team so the house could be built during winter months.
Alta Vista has had a prominent history of owners. Currently owned by the Vick family of Vick’s Vapour Rub fame.
The final hike video taken before we reached Williams Bay. We continued hiking from Williams Bay to Fontana where the path became a little more challenging.
This is sneak peak of the Lake Geneva Tour Boat from the inside. The provide rides to hikers Monday – Thursday with reservations and I enjoyed the calm, easy ride back to the city Lake Geneva.
A view from the lake side of the tour boat. Mainly taken as a pleasant reminder of how nice Lake Geneva can be on a sunny summer day.
This video is taken from the shoreline side of the tour boat. Also a reminder of how nice Lake Geneva can be on a summer day.
Hike summary. A pretty good laugh about trying to run the last ~mile to catch the approaching boat. We could see the boat coming and the people on the boat could see us running.
Well, not every video goes as planned.
