Deer Grove Forest Preserve

Deer Grove, the county’s first forest preserve, features nearly 2,000 acres of diverse habitat such as rolling upland forest, wooded ravines, wetlands and prairie. There are several parks and camping near Deer Grove. This seems like a great mountain bike area as well. Camp Reinberg’s tent sites and heated year-round cabins—plus dining hall and outdoor gathering areas—make it perfect for a group event or private getaway. Set in the oak woods of historic Deer Grove, Camp Reinberg provides access to miles of trails, beautifully restored landscapes and nearly unlimited recreation opportunities.

Deer Grove Forest Preserve in Palatine, IL, between Palatine Rd and Dundee Rd. The hike is 5.5 mile small balloon (mainly the loop part). Tune in daily for more 360° videos. Although we are *hiking* Deer Grove, this is a great biking location. The author described off-trail biking as a problem, which it may be, but we felt this hike would be best with a bike.
