Hike 360 VR

Hiking around in the round

Bong Rec Featured

Bong Recreational Area, WI

Once designated to be a jet fighter base, Richard Bong State Recreation Area is named after Major Richard I. Bong, a Poplar, WI native who was America’s leading air ace during World War II. The air base was abandoned three days before concrete was to be poured for a 12,500-foot runway. Local citizens had the foresight to protect this open space for future generations.

Richard Bong State Recreation Area in Wisconsin. I’m not sure what the difference is between a State Park and a State Recreation Area but there sure are a lot of things to do here.
Walking the Blue Trail. I took the Green trail for first part of my hike and continued on the Blue trail to make a longer go of it.
Wolf Lake inside the Bong Recreational Area. Its a cloudy day but you can imagine how beautiful is this area.
Sorry about the vertical video. I talk about how nice it is to sit and eat lunch overlooking Wolf Lake.
Look at the Sun Flowers at the end of this hike. Enjoying the peace and quiet of the labyrinth in my mind and Bong Recreation Area. 12 Stars recommendation.
